Startup Uganda concludes its first Innovation Challenge (#SUInnovates) with three winners.

On 21st May 2021, we alongside our anchor and hub partners, concluded the very first Startup Uganda Innovation Challenge, #SUInnovates2020. This first challenge was launched in August 2020 in partnership with UNCDF Uganda and saw the nine selected teams undergo an accelerator program with partner hubs across Kampala.

 

The issues under the challenge included: 

 

      Financial Health for MSMEs with Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU) as an anchor partner. Startups that competed in this category were Kanzu Code,  Pata Sente, and Chap Chap with the Innovation Village serving as the Hub partner.

      Leveraging Last Mile Distribution Networks with Mobipay and Ensibuuko as anchor partners. Agricycle, Famunera, and Cabral Tech were the Startups in this domain with the Makerere Innovation and Incubation Centers serving as the hub partners.

      Digital Literacy with Danish Refugee Council as an anchor partner. Startups that competed in this category were Digital Woman, ZOORA, and Backspace Ivy with the Response Innovation Lab as the hub parter.
